Our History

His Church International Christian Center (HCICC) is a family church, a teaching center and world outreach. We function as a New Testament church to meet the needs of the Greater Washington, D.C. metropolitan area.

The foundation of all activities of His Church is the Word of God. The basis of our ministry is best expressed by the scripture, from which we take our name, Mat 16:18 "And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My (His) church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it.

1 John 5:4 For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world; our faith.

John 10:10 … Jesus Christ is LIFE and that more ABUNDANTLY.

HCICC was founded on October 31, 1999 by Rev. King & Ritsuko Rhodes. They serve as the Pastors of the church. Pastor King has been ordained since 1990 submitted under the leadership of Dr. Stephen R. Johnson of Life Christian Church (formerly known as His Church Christian Fellowship) in San Diego, CA and Dr. Mark T. Barclay of Living Word Church International in Midland, MI.

While serving in the United States Marine Corps overseas, Pastor King & Ritsuko were both saved and committed their lives to the Lord Jesus Christ. They were married in Tokyo, Japan on August 3, 1987. There in Japan in 1988 Pastor King heard the call of God on his life and His Church was birth in his heart.

Pastor King is a graduate of Berean Bible College in San Diego, CA and Word Bible College in Escondido, CA in which he earned his Bachelors Degree in Theology. Prior to being sent out to pioneer this local church, he served full time on staff at His Church Christian Fellowship as an associate minister for several years

What We Believe

His Church accepts the scriptures as the revealed Will of God, the all sufficient rule of faith and practice, and for the purpose of maintaining general unity, adopts these Statements of Fundamental Truths and Doctrine.

ONE GOD
Our God is one, but manifested in three persons-the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, being co-equal (Phil. 2:6). God the Father is greater than all; the sender of the Word (Logos) and the Begetter (John 14:28, John 16:28, John 1:14). The Son is the Word flesh-covered, the One Begotten, and has existed with the Father from the beginning (John 1: 1, John 1: 18, John 1: 14). The Holy Spirit proceeds forth from both the Father and the Son and is eternal (John 15:26), eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (Deuteronomy 6:4, Matthew 28:19, Mark 12:29)

THE SCRIPTURES
The Bible is the inspired Word of God, the product of holy men of old who spoke and write as they were moved by the Holy Spirit. The New Covenant, as recorded in the New Testament, we accept as our infallible guide in matters pertaining to conduct, doctrine and life. (2 Tim. 3:15-16, 1 Thess. 2.13, Peter 1:21).

THE VIRGIN BIRTH
of Jesus Christ, His victorious atoning death, bodily resurrection, ascension, and second coming. (Isaiah 7:14, Romans 8:34, Acts 1:10-11)

SALVATION
Man is a created being, made in the likeness and image of God, but through Adam's transgression and fall, sin came into the world. "All have sinned, and come short of the glory of God." "As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one." Jesus Christ, the Son of God, was manifested to undo the work of the devil and gave His life and shed His blood to redeem and restore man back to God (Rom. 5:14; Rom. 3: 10; Rom 3:23; 1 John 3:8). Salvation is the gift of God to man, separate from works and the law, and is made operative by grace through faith in Jesus Christ (Eph. 2:8, 1 John 1:7, Romans 5:8-9)

ETERNAL LIFE and THE NEW BIRTH
Man's first step toward salvation is godly sorrow that works repentance. The New Birth is necessary to all men, and when experienced produces eternal life. (2 Cor. 7: 10, I John 5:12, John 3:3-5).

BAPTISM BY IMMERSION
Baptism in water is by immersion, is a direct commandment of our Lord, and is for believers only. The ordinance is a symbol of the Christian's identification with Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection (Matt. 28:19, Rom. 6:4, Col. 2:12, Acts 8:36-39).

DIVINE HEALING
Healing is for the physical ills of the human body and is wrought by the power of God through the prayer of faith, and by the laying on of hands. It is provided for in the atonement of Christ, and is the privilege of every member of the Church today (Mark 16:18; James 5:14,15; 1 Peter 2:24; Matt. 8:16-17; Isa. 53:4,5).

THE BAPTISM WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT
The Baptism with the Holy Ghost and fire is a gift from God as promised by the Lord Jesus Christ to all believers in this dispensation and is received subsequent to the New Birth. This experience is accompanied by the initial evidence of speaking in other tongues as the Holy Spirit Himself gives utterance and the gifts of the Spirit manifested as He wills. (Matt 3: 1 1, John 14:16,17; Acts 1:8, Acts 2:38,39; Acts 19:1-7; Acts 2:4; 10:44-46; 19:1-6).

THE PRIESTHOOD
Of the believer. (1 Peter 2:5-9; Revelation 1:5-6)

THE SANCTIFYING POWER
The Bible teaches that without holiness no man can see the Lord. We believe in the Doctrine of sanctification as a definite, yet progressive work of grace, commencing at the time of regeneration and continuing until the consummation of salvation at Christ's return (Heb. 12:14; 1 Thess. 5:23; 2 Peter 3:18; 2 Cor. 3:18; Phil. 3:12-14; 1 Cor. 1:30, Corinthians 6:11, 1 Peter 1:15-16)

THE GREAT COMMISSION
to preach the Gospel to every creature. (Mark 16:15)

THE PRACTICE OF WORSHIP
With one's total being as set forth in the Word of God. (Acts 24:14, Ephesians 5:18-19, Psalms 150)

IN THE RESURRECTION OF THE JUST AND THE RETURN OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST
The angels said to Jesus' disciples, "This same Jesus shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven." His coming is imminent. When He comes, ". . . the dead in Christ shall rise first; then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air . . ." (Acts 1:11; 1 Thess. 4:16,17). Following the Tribulation, He shall return to earth as King of kings, and Lord of lords, and together with His saints, who shall be kings and priests (1 Peter 2:5-9; Revelation 1:5-6), He shall reign a thousand years (Rev. 20:6).Both the saved and the lost will be resurrected, the one to everlasting life, the other to everlasting damnation . (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18, Revelations 20:13-14)

HELL AND ETERNAL RETRIBUTION
The one who physically dies in his sins without accepting Christ is hopelessly and eternally lost in the Lake of Fire, and therefore, has no further opportunity of hearing the Gospel or repenting. The Lake of Fire is literal. The terms "eternal" and "everlasting," used in describing the duration of the punishment of the damned in the Lake of Fire, carry the same thought and meaning of endless existence as used in denoting the duration of joy and ecstasy of saints in the presence of God (Heb. 9:27; Rev. 19:20)

To build people and change lives by leading them to Jesus Christ and to membership at His Church. Equipping them for their life ministry in the church and purpose in the world.

Our Vision
Our vision is to build… A international church that sets the standard as a Jesus style church in the body of Christ, that is filled with people of all races who walk in the love, unity and power of the Holy Spirit.

Our vision is to build... People by feeding them knowledge and understanding through God's Word that will enable them to prosper, live in health and live victoriously.

Our vision is to build... A place for edification, exhortation, comfort, fellowship, fun and love for couples, singles and children.

Our vision is to build... A team of servant leaders (lay-ministers) who serves the mission of Jesus Christ and the mission of His Church International Christian Center who lead by serving those on the mission with them.

Our vision is to build... Successful marriages that will be able to withstand Satan's and societies attacks, marriages that are filled with love, romance and fun, marriages that are models in the community.

Our vision is to build... Servant leaders (lay-ministers) who will be activated for godly duties such as feeding the hungry, visiting the sick, the imprisoned and clothing the naked.

Our vision is to build... Servant leaders (believers) who will impact their communities and immediate surroundings with the gospel message of Jesus Christ.

Our vision is to build... Children and youth who are trained and mobilized to work in the ministry, including evangelizing with fun reaching their generation.

Our vision is to build... Men and Women of character who will be well equipped to mentor both young and old.

Our vision is to build... And establish churches in the U.S. and abroad that will equip and prepare people (servant leaders) for the work of the ministry bringing in the end time harvest.

Our vision is to build... A multi-faceted complex having educational, vocational facilities, field areas including a gymnasiums surrounding a large seated superstructure on many acres of land that will be equipped to minister to the diverse needs of the community and the nation.

Our vision is to build... Joyful worshippers who are truly devoted to God and His purpose for their lives and church.

Our vision is to build... A work that is genuinely built by the Master Jesus Christ who will say when it is all said and done; well done, my good and faithful servant!

Our Lifestyle

Worship as a Lifestyle - We focus on God's Throne
The worship of God is our primary ministry, pursued with biblically motivated zeal and offered in reverence with humility, childlikeness, and passion.

The Bible as Authority - We Honor God's Word
The Word of God is our final authority and source of life guidance, revealing the nature and character of God, calling us to a faith-filled, obedient godly life-style.

Evangelism and Outreach - We Extend God's Love
We are moved, by the power of the Holy Spirit and the compassion of Jesus Christ, to reach the unreached and tell the untold the message of reconciliation.

Unity of the Body of Christ - We Pursue Unity with God's People
We earnestly seek and unselfishly serve Christ's global, multi-faceted body by our attitudes and commitments in order to pursue unity, the value for which Jesus prayed.

Ministry to the Family - We Serve God's Family
We practice a focused ministry to individuals, believing marriage and family are divinely ordained of God. We nurture couples and strengthen homes, believing every single person is significant in God's purpose. We seek to grow each one in Christ.

Racial Harmony - We Respect All Gods People
Under God our Creator, ethnic diversity is respected, and under Christ our redeemer, all humanity is invited to answer the Bible's call to the values and virtues of the Kingdom of God!

Prayer Life - We Invite God's Intervention
Steadfast prayer, intercession, and Holy Spirit enabled supernatural utterance are vital in our partnership with God for the release of His power, provision, and presence in life, service, and ministry.

Equipping of the Saints - We Release God's People
The church's ministry is to be conveyed through the means of maturing believers of all ages, social status, gender, ethnic groups, and marital status to equip all people with the power of God to the world.

Giving and Stewardship - We Practice Christ-Like Generosity
We seek to give of our tithes, offerings and all of life's resources. We are stewards of what we have been given, such as time, gifts, and finances - seeing that these are from God's hand - yet ours to obediently distribute.

Committed to Sound Doctrine - We Seek to Understand
We seek to preserve the integrity of God's Word, always searching the scriptures with the assistance of the Holy Spirit, trusting in the truth as revealed by Him.
